The aesthetic dimension also plays an important part. What is more, it turns out that clinics take part in beauty contests too. This year, 2,750 people voted for the very best.
According to the results, Privatklinik Bethanien, one of our most popular private clinics, took second place in the list of the most beautiful. And this is no coincidence. The clinic is located in a prestigious district of Zurich, on the Zürichberg, with a wonderful view of the lake and the city. On your first visit, it is hard to realise at once that you are in a medical institution.
Bethanien is more reminiscent of a small European-style village, in the best sense of the word. The five-storey arched buildings with mahogany-coloured tiled roofs look like small but majestic castles surrounded by mountains. Manicured lawns, rock gardens, fountains and decorative ornaments make for a concise yet highly expressive landscape design.
Inside, the clinic resembles the lobby of a high-tech five-star hotel. Wood and steel highlight and reveal the harmony between the natural beauty of the setting and human creation. Snow-white armchairs and a black grand piano are, of course, essential elements of this eclectic style. The interplay of artificial and natural light only heightens the effect. Red, white and flamingo-pink tulips and peonies stand everywhere. Flowers are loved here, so even the walls feature stylish black-and-white images of roses.
Service at the clinic is of the highest standard: discreet and unpretentious, yet always perfectly timed. Therein lies the art. Many of the 500 employees who examine, operate on and care for patients every day have received additional training in hospitality.
