About the resort
Thermal water and preventive longevity medicine
The story begins in 1242, when a thermal spring with a constant temperature of 36.5 °C was discovered in the Tamina Gorge. The Grand Hotel Quellenhof opened here in 1869, followed in 1872 by Europe’s first indoor thermal pool. Today Grand Resort Bad Ragaz is one of Switzerland’s leading health resorts, bringing together several five-star hotels, a thermal spa complex and the Tamina Health medical centre.
Tamina Health, the resort’s medical centre, spans 2,500 m² over four floors, with around 80 treatment and diagnostic rooms and more than 100 physicians and health specialists. The medical service is led by Dr med. Alexandra Dopplinger, Medical Director and FMH specialist in orthopaedic surgery and musculoskeletal traumatology. Its programmes rest on four pillars — movement, nutrition, sleep and mental health — and diagnostics include epigenetic age, microbiome, inflammation markers and heart rate variability (HRV).
The resort is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World and listed by Forbes Travel Guide, and its restaurants — including Sven Wassmer’s Memories and IGNIV by Andreas Caminada — hold a combined six Michelin stars and one Michelin Green Star. Treatments use the resort’s own thermal water from the Tamina Gorge, traditionally used to support circulation and the musculoskeletal system.
