Hôpital de La Providence stands in the heart of Neuchâtel, in French-speaking western Switzerland, close to the shore of the lake of the same name. Founded more than 160 years ago by the Hospital Sisters of Besançon, it has cared for patients from the region for generations, combining renowned surgeons, modern medical equipment and four-star hotel service.
The clinic specialises in orthopaedics and trauma surgery, nephrology and ophthalmology, as well as spine surgery, visceral and vascular surgery, gynaecology and urology. Its orthopaedic department enjoys a reputation well beyond the Neuchâtel region: around 50 doctors perform more than 2,500 operations here each year (65% inpatient, 35% outpatient).
The haemodialysis unit is one of the ten leading haemodialysis centres in Switzerland and treats more than one hundred patients a year, including at a satellite centre in La Chaux-de-Fonds for patients from the mountain areas. The Swiss Visio La Providence eye centre is part of Genolier Swiss Visio Network, the largest in Switzerland. The clinic also has a pain centre, a sports medicine centre with the Swiss Olympic label, a physiotherapy centre, the IRP radiology department, a neurology centre and an emergency polyclinic.
