A compact house with more than a century of tradition
Privatklinik Obach was founded in 1922 and is the largest private hospital in the canton of Solothurn. It holds a special place in the Swiss hospital landscape: a compact house devoted to medicine of the highest standard for more than 100 years, close to the town yet set in calm, green surroundings.
The clinic holds a cantonal healthcare mandate and welcomes patients with every type of insurance, combining the accessibility of a public hospital with a personal approach and the atmosphere of a private house. It has 65 beds and several operating theatres with state-of-the-art equipment; around 42 accredited independent doctors perform more than 4,000 operations here each year.
Part of Swiss Medical Network, the clinic specialises in orthopaedic surgery (the OrthoObach centre), urology, gynaecology, ENT and maxillofacial surgery, and general and visceral (abdominal) surgery. It also has a physiotherapy centre and a department of anaesthesiology and pain therapy. Its doctors include Professor Victor Valderrabano, one of Europe’s leading foot and ankle surgeons, and Professor Alexander Bachmann, a specialist in urology and uro-oncology.
